Quezon village chief bet hurt in ambush wins local elections

GENERAL LUNA, Quezon - Despite being injured in an ambush, the village chief here managed to emerge victorious in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKEelction) on October 31, 2023.

Ruben Ilagan, a 63-year-old married man, had a narrow escape from a terrifying attack during his campaign rally on October 26, 2023. He is injured, yet his commitment to serving his community never wavers.



This remarkable achievement demonstrates the unwavering support and trust that the community has placed in their leader, even in the face of adversity. The incident serves as a testament to the leader's ability to inspire and unite the community, as well as his commitment to their well-being and safety.

General Luna Mayor Erwin Matt Florido, in a Facebook post, commended the bravery and resilience of the village councilman, highlighting his unwavering dedication to serving the community.

Mayor Florido emphasized that the councilman's actions not only exemplify his commitment to public service but also reflect the values and spirit of the entire community.

The mayor expressed his gratitude for having such a dedicated and courageous individual working alongside him for the betterment of their constituents.

The mayor has visited the Ilagan, who are currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital, and has assured them of the city's support in their recovery.

He also pledged to work closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for this heinous act and to ensure that they are held accountable for their actions.

Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing, and the mayor assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in finding those responsible.
