ANTIPOLO, Rizal - The Rizal Governor Nina Ynares has made a pledge to prioritize the care and preservation of the environment in celebration of her birthday. She emphasized the importance of building resilience in the face of climate change and committed to implementing sustainable practices in the province.

Recognizing the urgent need for action, together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the project Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Communities through Multistakeholder Engagement for Rizal (TRANSFORM) was launched.

TRANSFORM aims to promote sustainable development and resilience in the province of Rizal by engaging multiple stakeholders and adopting a transdisciplinary approach. Through this project, the government and local communities will work hand in hand to address environmental challenges and create a more sustainable future for Rizal.

According to the governor, only four provinces in the country have this program in place, highlighting the significance of TRANSFORM for Rizal's development. The program's success will serve as a model for other provinces to follow, encouraging a nationwide shift towards sustainable practices and community engagement.

Earlier, partners from DENR headed by Secretary Loyzaga, undersecretaries, regional directors, Mayors Jun Ynares, Lito Tanjuatco, Willy Robles, Omie Rivera, Ronnie Evangelista, LGU's staff, CSO's, NGO's, stakeholders from the private sector, academia, and local communities attended the TRANSFORM program's launch.

Among those discussed are disaster risk reduction and adaptation, or combating the worsening effects of climate change in the world and in local communities. The participants also explored strategies for sustainable development and the importance of collaboration between different sectors to address these pressing issues.

Ynares also said resilience is bending without breaking for challenges and setbacks, for they have gone through challenges before and have learned to adapt and overcome them. Strong and progressive communities are built on the foundation of resilience, as they are able to bounce back from adversity and continue to grow and thrive.

Rizal province is the most competitive province in the entire country for the 8th straight year., according to the National Competitiveness Council. This achievement reflects the province's commitment to promoting economic growth and development, as well as its ability to attract investments and provide a conducive business environment.

The recognition also highlights the efforts of local government units and stakeholders in fostering innovation and collaboration across different sectors, ensuring sustainable progress for the province and its residents.
