SANTA ROSA CITY, Laguna - Dozens of alumnus were honored by the University of the Philippines Los Baños Alumni Association (UPBLAA), with achievements ranging from various fields such as business, politics, and academia.

Mayor Arlene Arcillas of Santa Rosa, Laguna was among the distinguished recipients, recognized for her outstanding contributions to public service and governance. She has made significant strides in improving the quality of life for her constituents and implementing innovative policies.



At a ceremony at the 105th UPLB Loyalty Day Awarding Ceremony held on October 8, 2023, at the Charles Fuller Baker Memorial Hall, UP Los Baños, the prestigious presidential award bestowed upon her served as a testament to her exemplary leadership and dedication to the betterment of her community.

The presidential award is the most prestigious recognition that can be given to an individual for their outstanding contributions and achievements. I

It is a symbol of the highest honor and acknowledgment from the highest office in the country, highlighting their exceptional service and impact on society.

Receiving such an award not only validates their hard work and commitment but also inspires others to strive for excellence in their own endeavors.

As the mayor gives her acceptance speech, she expresses her gratitude for the recognition and says the "true essence of UPLB extends beyond academics; it resides in the ethos of public service, in the spirit of Iskolar ng Bayan."

She emphasized that "awards remind us that we must never lose sight of our purpose. We must always remember that we are here to serve the people, to be their voice, and to work tirelessly for their welfare."

Mayor Arlene dedicated the award "to the people of the City of Santa Rosa, who have entrusted me with their dreams and aspirations."

"It belongs to my family, whose unwavering support has been my pillar of strength. It belongs to the dedicated public servants I have the privilege to work with daily."

Arcillas graduated from UPLB in April 1993 with a degree in BS Biology and went on to pursue a career in public service.

She has always been grateful for the opportunities she has had to collaborate with passionate individuals who share her commitment to making a positive impact on society.
