TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources recently gave some 30,000 tilapia fingerlings to a fisherfolk group in Tayabas City, Quezon Province, as part of its continuing efforts to support local fishing communities.

The fingerlings were distributed to the fishermen to help replenish their stocks and enhance their livelihoods. This initiative aims to promote sustainable fishing practices and ensure the long-term viability of the local fishery industry in Tayabas City.

36 farmers and fishermen's associations for rearing and breeding tilapia fingerlings were also provided with technical assistance and training on proper fish farming techniques. In addition, ongoing monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to assess the impact of this initiative and identify areas for further support and development.

The local government of Tayabas City, through the Office of the City Agriculturist, helps facilitate the distribution of the tilapia fingerlings to the farmers and fishermen's associations. This initiative is one of the local government 's efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of the local community.

Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso, through her representative, has expressed her commitment to continuously support and expand this initiative. She believes that by providing further assistance and resources, the local government can ensure the long-term success and positive impact of this program on the community's economic growth and food security.
