LUCENA CITY, Quezon - According to the result of an informal survey from the national assessment of education, 98% of 742 respondents said that there is learning poverty in their school or division, and the top five factors that contribute to poor learning outcomes are teacher quality with 525 votes, ancillary tasks with 439 votes, a lack of learning resources with 420 votes, poor school infrastructure with 324 votes, and no strong ECE foundation with 211 votes.

This year's Quezon Educators' Research Convention takes on added significance in an era marked by immense educational difficulties and transformations. During the convention, these educational difficulties brought to the forefront the need for innovative solutions and collaborative efforts among educators.

6,089 teachers from the third district and Candleria gathered on November 26, 2023, in Lucen City to participate in the convention that serves as a platform for educators to share their research findings and best practices. With the support of the provincial government, this initiative aims to empower educators with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate these challenging times and ensure that students receive a well-rounded education.

Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Gregorio Mueco, said Quezon educators are fortunate to have the support of the local government in resolving these difficulties. He expressed his gratitude for the continuous efforts of the local government to provide the necessary resources and support to improve the quality of education in the province.

He stressed that research is crucial in identifying the root causes of these challenges and finding effective solutions. By conducting thorough research, educators can gather data and evidence to support their proposals for improving school infrastructure, strengthening early childhood education, and allocating resources effectively.

In addition, collaboration between educators, local government officials, and other stakeholders is essential in implementing sustainable changes that will benefit the education system in Quezon Province, and Mueco urges the educators to research independently and actively engage with these stakeholders to ensure their input and perspectives are incorporated into the proposed solutions.

He also said the research presenter should consider the diverse needs and backgrounds of the students in Quezon Province, as well as any cultural or societal factors that may impact their education. Through this approach, they can develop strategies and interventions that are tailored to the specific challenges and opportunities faced by the students in this region.

This year’s convention, bearing the theme "Pursuit of Education Transfromation along the Path of Recovery" is a testament to the commitment of educators in Quezon province to continuously improve and adapt their teaching methods in response to the ever-changing needs of their students.

In her speech, Quezon Governor Angelina "Helen" Tan stated that the provincial government's priority is to improve the state of education in Quezon, which is why efforts are being made to implement various policies, programs, and projects aimed at every student and teacher in the province.

She emphasized that data is being collected and analyzed to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making processes. This data-driven approach ensures that resources are allocated effectively and interventions are targeted where they are most needed.

She also said one of the key areas of focus for improving education in Quezon is enhancing the skills and abilities of teachers. Recognizing their pivotal role in student learning, the province is implementing comprehensive training programs for teachers, particularly those who are just starting their careers.

The provincial government has long been committed to improving the quality of education in Quezon, and this convention is a significant step towards achieving that goal. This initiative recognizes the urgent need to address these challenges and provide educators with the support they need to overcome them.

Meanwhile, raffle draw prizes and the sharing of wisdom from Chinkee Tan, a renowned motivational speaker and financial coach, were also highlights of the convention. The event provided a valuable opportunity for educators to learn from experts in the field and gain new insights on effective teaching methods and strategies.
