ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal - Training institutions for the sport of weightlifting will be built in the province of Rizal, according to Rizal Governor Nina Ynares recently. The lady governor also believes that this initiative will not only support the development of local talent but also attract national and international athletes to train in Rizal.

Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz made history for the Philippines by winning the country's first-ever gold medal in weightlifting at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Her incredible achievement not only brought pride to her nation but also inspired countless aspiring athletes across the country.

With her historic win, the provincial government of Rizal recognized Hidilyn Diaz's remarkable accomplishment by awarding her a prestigious citation and financial support to further develop weightlifting programs in the province.

This recognition not only highlights the impact of her victory on a national level but also showcases the importance of investing in sports at the grassroots level to nurture future champions.

Ynares said she is sure that many young athletes and weightlifting aspirants are excited for the opening of Diaz’ outreach gym, called the HD Weightlifting Academy, in Sitio Manggahan.

She also said she is impressed with Diaz’ efforts to share her love for weightlifting with others, as well as the training, discipline, and determination needed for this sport.

“Hindi lang ang iyong olympic medal ang gold pero pati ang puso mo,” she said.

She urged aspiring weightlifters to work hard like Diaz. She believes that Diaz serves as a great inspiration and role model for aspiring weightlifters, showing them that with dedication and perseverance, they too can achieve their goals in the sport.

Ynare said the Rizal provincial government is here to support them in their journey towards becoming successful weightlifters. The government is committed to providing the necessary resources and facilities to help them excel in their training and competitions.
