SANTA CRUZ, Laguna - Laguna Governo Ramil Hernandez highlighted the importance of the agricultural sector in driving economic growth and development in the province, stating that it plays a crucial role in providing employment opportunities and ensuring food security for the residents.
He stated that agriculture is still a top priority for his administration, and that the strategic plan intends to give farmers with assistance and resources, enhance agricultural infrastructure, and encourage sustainable farming practices.
With the continued support of the governor in the agricultural program and celebration of the 8th Organic Agriculture and 5th Agri-Fishery Congress, the TECHNO Forum for Crops & Fishery was held at the Cultural Center in Santa Cruz to showcase the latest advancements in agricultural technology and promote knowledge sharing among farmers.
The forum featured expert speakers, interactive workshops, and exhibits of innovative farming equipment, providing valuable insights and opportunities for networking within the agricultural community.
It was attended by farmers, fishermen and Municipal Agriculture Officers in other LGUs. The issue of pest and diseases, the impact of climate change on agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture programs, utilization of rice straw and smart rice technology were discussed. DA-RCPC, DA RFO IV-A, BFAR IV-A , and other government agencies were also present to provide updates on agricultural policies and programs.
The event aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among different stakeholders in the agricultural sector, with a focus on sustainable practices and technological advancements. Field Agricultural Extension Services-OPAG facilitated the discussion on fisheries and aquaculture programs, providing insights on the latest techniques and best practices.
They recently conducted trainings and gave modern machinery to farmers in order to increase productivity and improve the quality of their produce. This has helped farmers boost their revenue and better their livelihoods.
Some of these trainings are Techno Demo Aralan on Rice Production, Corn Training, Registration of Ownership of Agricultural and Fisheries Machines and Equipment System – RAFMES Training, and the Training-Workshop on Creating the Provincial Fishery Profile.
The governor is inviting agricultural organizations that want to be part of the trainings to participate in the program. These organizations can benefit from the program by gaining access to valuable resources and knowledge in agricultural practices.
