CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - An intervention that aims to support and uplift the local farming and fishing communities in Laguna was recently held by the local government. The distribution of these interventions is part of their commitment to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance the livelihoods of farmers and fishermen in the province.
Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez led the distribution of various agriculture and fishery interventions, such as farm-ready seedlings, hydroponics starter set, humic acid, herbicide, molluscide WP70, knapsack sprayer, rotary cultivator, and hand tractor.
A total of 1,000 beneficiaries from different municipalities in Laguna received these interventions. The government also provided training and technical assistance to ensure that the beneficiaries were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively utilize these interventions.
According to Hernandez, the distribution of agriculture and fishing interventions is part of the Ratsada Laguna Hataw Agrikultura 2023-2026, an FAES-OPAg program aimed at strengthening, cultivating, and expanding knowledge and techniques in the province's agricultural sector.
The interventions were carefully selected to address the specific needs of farmers and enhance their efficiency in farming practices.
Congresswoman Ruth Mariano-Hernandez and Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay have been actively involved in the implementation of the program, ensuring that the interventions are effectively reaching the farmers and fishermen in Laguna.
