LAUREL, Batangas - The local government of Laurel, Batangas, has recently received seven special patents from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, City Environment and Natural Resources Office DENR CENRO Calaca.

OIC-CENR Officer Isagani Amatorio, Supervising Environment Management Specialist Agnes Sune, Regulation and Permitting Section Chief Rosalia Balicanta, and Conservation and Development Section Chief Elizabeth Galit personally handed over the special patents to LGU-Laurel during the ceremony. As witnesses, Bruce Municipal Administrator Bienvenido Mayuga and Municipal Assessor Aris De Sagun represented Mayor Lyndon Masicat.

The said special patents are for the parcels of land covering the LGU’s municipal cemetery, archive library, materials recovery facility, and evacuation site.

The titles increase the capacity of the LGU-Laurel to respond to the needs of its constituents, as they legitimize its ownership over the strategic parcels of land in the municipality.

The DENR issues special patents to apply to Filipino people of legal age, or any government corporation, province, municipality, or other branches or subdivisions of the government, to cede, give, and convey complete ownership of alienable and disposable lands of the government.

By a congressional act, the enactment of a special statute, or a presidential proclamation enabling the DENR secretary to issue such a patent , the DENR is granted the authority to transfer ownership of alienable and disposable lands to eligible recipients.

This process ensures that these lands are utilized for the benefit and development of the Filipino people or for public purposes, in accordance with the government's land management policies.
