PAGBILAO, Quezon — To equip the students in choosing their career paths, the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) through the Department of Education (DepEd) participated in Career Guidance Employment Coaching and Campus Peace and Development Forum at the Talipan National High School Gymnasium recently.

This collaboration aims to strengthen the common goal of education sector in acquainting students with the necessary awareness and knowledge required to plan for future career endeavors. The government officials and security forces also presented to them a wide range of career choices that would ensure them a brighter future and to prevent the students from being recruited by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).



JO2 Joefrie B. Anglo, chief of the community relations service unit of the BJMP-Quezon District Jail served as one of the resource persons during the culminating activity. Along with the education stakeholders, he highlighted the importance of a productive career choice and successfully presented a clear road map not only in its mission to educate and increase the level of awareness of students on career opportunities, but also strengthen dynamic collaboration with various agencies whose aim is to secure and uphold the future of today's generation.

“We are guiding them (students) because we want them to become productive members of the society, and we are here to intensify also our recruitment for them to have a better future through having the right career path,” said Anglo.

Anglo added, “the program is not only a bridge from the student to the government, but can also bridge peace and development to our learners that is why we are also strengthening our partnership with the Department of Education to prevent rebel recruitment among our youth.”

Meanwhile, the Air Force unit and Fire department also gave a lecture on leadership skills and career opportunities in the government service. Aside from the military service, the students were guided on a career that matches their skills, and available training provided by the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines Inc. (GEPI).

Through DepEd Memorandum No. 169 series of 2018, the career guidance modules were issued in support to the implementation of the Grade 12 Career Guidance Program. Aside from determining a clear directional exit after Senior High School (SHS), the objectives of the the implementation of the career guidance modules are to apply academic employment readiness skills in work-based learning institutions such as internships, shadowing or mentoring. | via Serbisyong Ugnayan sa Pamayanan
