SARIAYA, Quezon - The Christmas lights volunteers have placed the tree next to the municipal building as the town's switch-on ceremony takes place. The towering tree, adorned with colorful ornaments and twinkling lights, serves as a symbol of joy and unity for the community during this festive season.

The switch on ceremony is a highly anticipated event that brings together residents of all ages. The tree's presence serves as a reminder of the spirit of giving and togetherness that defines the holiday season in Sariaya.

The event took place on November 9, 2023, and was led by Sariaya Mayor Marcelo Gayeta, who expressed his gratitude to the community for their support and participation in making the event a success.

He highlighted the importance of coming together as a community during the holiday season and how events like these strengthen the bonds between neighbors and friends. He encouraged everyone to continue spreading joy and kindness throughout the festive period.

Parol Festival of the Tourism, Culture, and the Arts Office headed by the Gayeta’s wife Marivic showcased the rich cultural heritage of the city through various parol designs and performances. The festival not only brought people together but also highlighted the creativity and talent within the community.

Mayor Gayeta shared his pride in seeing the community come together to celebrate their shared traditions and create lasting memories. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the city's cultural heritage, as it plays a significant role in fostering unity and a sense of belonging among its residents.

A traditional Belen or Nativity Scene was also displayed during the festival, reminding attendees of the true meaning of Christmas. The Belen showcased intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail, serving as a visual representation of the biblical story of Jesus' birth.

"Paskong Sariayahin, Masaya, Makulay, at Nagniningning (Sariaya Christmas: Happy, Colorful, and Shining)." is the official theme of this year's festival, capturing the essence of the vibrant and joyful atmosphere that filled the streets of Sariaya.

The festival featured various activities, such as parades, live performances, and a food fair, providing entertainment for people of all ages. Fireworks display was also a highlight of the festival, lighting up the night sky and adding an extra touch of magic to the celebrations.
