TANAUAN, Batangas - A free ligation and vasectomy is swinging in this town offering free vasectomies this week. The event is open to all residents of Tanaun, Batangas, and is part of the town and City Health Office's efforts to promote family planning and reproductive health.

According to Tanauan Mayor Sonny Collantes, the free ligation and vasectomy program aims to provide accessible and affordable options for family planning to the residents of Tanauan.

The event also includes educational sessions on the benefits and importance of family planning methods, ensuring that individuals can make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

The procedure takes just about 10 minutes and can be done in outpatient settings such as health clinics or hospitals.

It is a safe and effective method of contraception that offers long-term protection against unwanted pregnancies. Additionally, the program also provides counseling services to address any concerns or questions individuals may have before undergoing the procedure.

The surgeries were carried out at the Laurel Memorial District Hospital by 27 women and two men. The participants ranged in age from 21 to 45 years old, and all expressed satisfaction with the procedure and the care they received.

The Commission on Population Division and DKT offered assistance for the initiative, as well as information on reproductive health and various family planning methods. The two agencies are also Tanauan City's partners in achieving its zero population growth target for 2027.

The hospital was able to provide comprehensive reproductive health care and educate clients on various family planning alternatives as a result of this relationship.
