LUCENA CITY, Quezon - More men in Quezon province from various sectors are now in the loop to end violence through the recently launched 18-day campaign to end violence against women and children (VAWC). These different sectors include government agencies, non-government organizations, and community leaders.
Provincial Government of Quezon, together with Mens Opposing Violence Against Women and Children Everywhere (MOVE Quezon), in collaboration with Provincial Gender and Development Quezon and the Philippine Commission on Women, launched an 18-day campaign to end VAWC on December 1, 2023.
The campaign aims to raise awareness among local officials and law enforcement authorities about the proper handling of cases of VAWC and to promote a culture of respect and gender equality within the community.
About 4,000 males from various MOVE chapters, which included 48 LGUs and national line agencies within the province, participated in the campaign, demonstrating their commitment to ending violence against women and children.
She also said that men and women should unite and work together to put an end to the abuse and mistreatment of women and children, as it is a shared responsibility that requires collective action.
The 18-day campaig VAWC was attended by DPWH Region 1 Director Engr. Ronnel Tan as the Honorary Chairperson of the MOVE Quezon Chapter, along with Provincial Administrator Manny Butardo, Acting PGAD Head Sonia Leyson, and the two thousand four hundred participants from various government agencies.
Various activities and workshops in the campaign that seek to empower women and children to speak up against violence and seek help when neededd were also conducted to raise awareness and promote gender equality. There was also orientation, band performances, Ginoong Move 2023, and a raffle draw.
