LUCENA CITY - The local government of Lucena City once again brought Christmas cheer through joyous festivities and dazzling lights at the Lucena City Government Complex on December 7, 2023, led by Mayor Mark Alcala, Vice Mayor Roderick "Dondon" Alcala, and city councilors.

The switch-on ceremony marked the beginning of the holiday season, as residents and visitors gathered to witness the magnificent display of lights that adorned the city's streets and buildings. The event also awards a recycled Christmas decor competition.to recognize the creativity and resourcefulness of the community in promoting sustainability during the holiday season.



Participants showcased their innovative designs made from recycled materials, highlighting the importance of environmental consciousness in celebrating Christmas. The winners were announced amidst applause and admiration, inspiring everyone to embrace a more eco-friendly approach to festive decorations.

Mayor Mark Alcala expressed his gratitude to the residents of Lucena City and thanked them for their continued support in making the city a vibrant and festive place during the holidays. He emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and encouraged everyone to enjoy the lights while being mindful of the environment.

During the event, the mayor also announced that the employees of the city government will receive incentives this holiday season as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. The incentives aim to boost morale and encourage the employees to continue their efforts in maintaining a sustainable and festive atmosphere in Lucena City.

Meanwhile, one of the new tourist attractions here is the night market on ML Tagarao Street, which was open during the event and aims to promote local businesses and provide visitors with a unique shopping and dining experience. From street food stalls offering delicious local delicacies to handmade crafts and souvenirs, the night market offers a diverse range of products for everyone to enjoy.
