TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The Office of the Building Official here has conducted an orientation and seminar for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSK) officials on December 6, 2023, to educate them about the necessary building permits and regulations.
BO Engr. Francis Pacaigue said the aim of the orientation was to ensure that these officials have a comprehensive understanding of their roles in enforcing building codes and promoting safe construction practices within their respective communities.
One hundred BSK officials attended the orientation and seminar, demonstrating their commitment to upholding the safety and welfare of their constituents and contributing to the overall development of their barangays. The BO hopes to create a safer and more sustainable built environment for all people by providing these authorities with the required information and abilities.
The duties of the building official were discussed in the orientation, including the method and requirements for processing the building and occupancy permit, architectural, civil/structural, sanitary/plumbing, mechanical/electric, and electrical-mechanical facilities and applications.
In addition, the orientation emphasized the importance of maintaining proper documentation and records for all building inspections and compliance procedures. The seminar also provided a platform for OBO to share best practices and updates on any recent changes in building codes and regulations.
