LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Quezon Province has made significant strides in improving its health system. The province has implemented various initiatives to enhance access to quality healthcare services for its residents and was lauded at the health summit for its efforts.

Health workers, local government leaders, and development partners gathered on December 6 at the Luxentt Hotel, Quezon City, to recognize and celebrate their outstanding contributions to promoting the health and well-being of the residents of the province of Quezon.

Quezon Governor Angelina "Helen" Tan is the principal author of universal health care implementation and the reason why the province of Quezon is advancing in terms of healthcare services, and the summit is an opportunity to showcase the progress and success achieved so far.

The health summit aims to provide a platform for sharing best practices, exchanging knowledge, and fostering collaboration among different stakeholders in the healthcare sector. It also seeks to address current challenges and identify future opportunities for further improving the delivery of healthcare services in Quezon Province.

Senator Imelda "Imee" Marcos was the keynote speaker, where she shared her full support for the province's primary Health care programs and said that she believes these programs will greatly benefit the residents of Quezon Province.

She said other provinces need to learn from the health innovations and initiatives of Quezon Province that have been successfully implemented. "Its a real joy and pride to see this remarkable pilot implementing as one of the PhilHealth Konsultasyon Sulit at Tama ang Konsulta Package as one of the merefied local government units for the public to access preventive care services, including free medicine and lab tests for our patients consuklation," she added.

Additionally, she said it was also remarkable that the provincial government of Quezon established a network among the mayors themselves so that province-wide health system integration could take place, and that is the true essence of a collaborative and efficient healthcare system.

She also lauded the efforts of the local health workers, who tirelessly provide quality healthcare services to the community. Their dedication and commitment contribute to the success of this pilot program and ensure that the public receives the necessary care they deserve.

According to Governor Tan, there is still a long way to go and much that needs to be adjusted in the health system and services provided, but strategies and planning are being developed to address the challenges that will be faced by working side by side with the national, regional, and local governments.

She said that collaboration will be crucial in ensuring the successful implementation of the strategies and plans, so she is calling on all stakeholders to actively participate and contribute their expertise.

Tan also emphasized the importance of partnership and cooperation among healthcare providers, community organizations, and the private sector. She believes that by working together, they can pool resources and knowledge to improve the overall quality of healthcare services not only in the province but also in the whole country.

Meanwhile, Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary of Special Concerns Team (STC) Dra. Maria Francia Miciano-Laxamana announced that the province of Quezon is leading in the local Health system maturity level and is expected to continue to make significant progress in the future.

She also said DOH will help to improve hospital infrastructure and expand access to healthcare services in Quezon Province, ensuring that the growing population has adequate medical facilities and resources.

During the summit, municipalities and cities were recognized and awarded for having demonstrated good governance when it comes to health. Furthermore, the staff pledges their commitment to providing health care to the people of Quezon.

Quezon Province has been recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services not only within its borders but also on a national level. The efforts made by the local government and the DOH have resulted in significant advancements in the health system's maturity level, setting an example for other provinces to follow.

With continued support and investment, Quezon Province is poised to further enhance its healthcare infrastructure and ensure that its residents have access to high-quality medical care.
