TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - Tayabas City farmers in this province will now have access to modern agricultural equipment, as they have been provided with a hand tractor and rice thresher. This initiative aims to enhance their farming practices and improve productivity in Tayabas City, benefiting the agricultural sector in this province.
Five (5) brand new hand tractors and five (5) brand new palay threshers were distributed by Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso to ten (10) farmer associations in the City of Tayabas on Friday, December 15, 2023, in conjunction with the Christmas Party of the Tayabas Federation of Farmers Association in Silungang Bayan ng Tayabas.
Among those who received brand new hand tractors are the farmers' associations of Barangays Tongko, Masin, Banilad, Baguio, and Alitao. Additionally, brand new rice threshers were given to the farmers' association from Barangay Pandakaki, Ilayang Palale, Ibabang Palale, Kanlurang Katigan, and Ipilan.
These were thankful for the delivery of two hand tractors with prime movers and implements done by City Agriculturist Rommel Abuyan, who witnessed and enjoyed the distribution of farm machinery and TFFA's Christmas party.
Pontioso's priority is to make agriculture progress in the City of Tayabas, so she continues to promote agricultural programs and provide support to farmers in the area through the City Agriculture Office. Under her leadership, the City Agriculture Office has been actively organizing trainings and seminars for farmers to enhance their skills and knowledge in modern farming techniques.
The distribution of farm machinery and the Christmas party organized by the TFFA not only showed appreciation for the farmers' hard work but also encouraged camaraderie among them. With the continuous efforts of the lady Mayor and City Agriculturist Abuyan, the agricultural sector in Tayabas City is expected to thrive and contribute to the overall progress of the city.
