CANDELARIA, Quezon - A barangay chairman in Candelaria town who has been serving the community for over a decade and is known for his dedication and strong leadership skills has been re-elected to head the Liga ng mga Barangay (LMB-Quezon) in Quezon province.
Ireneo "Boyong" Boongaling, along with other newly elected officers, took the oath of office for his second term as LMB chairman in front of Governor Angelina "Helen" Tan on January 15, 2024, during a ceremony held at the provincial capitol.
Boongaling expressed his gratitude for the trust and confidence given to him by his fellow barangay chairmen and vowed to continue working towards the betterment of the barangays in Quezon Province. He also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among the barangays to address various issues and concerns faced by their communities.
He refers to himself as a "4-in-1" government official because he is the chairman of his village, the president of ABC in his town, an ex-officio member of the municipal council, and the president of LMB, who also serves as a Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member in charge of the barangay affairs committee.
As chairman of his village and president of ABC in his town, Boongaling vowed to continue working toward the development and improvement of his community, including prioritizing projects that address residents' needs and concerns, such as infrastructure development, healthcare services, and education programs, in accordance with the governor's development agenda and health care priority program.
The other officials of the LMB also shared their plans and goals for the upcoming term; Vice President Jaime Nicolas of Calauag, Auditor Victor Tan of Buenavista, Board of Directors Syvel Sincioco of Panukulan, Erasto Llagas of Burdeos, Sunday Alvarez of Lucban, Alfonso Santos of Dolores, Joyal Esguerra of San Narciso, Honorato Litas Jr. of San Francisco, Geordil Castillo of Gumaca, and Lorenzo Cesar Veranga of Atimonan.
Numerous participants from various sectors attended the event, including representatives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Quezon provincial director Abegail Andres, provincial election officer assistant Roberto Lozano, Lucena City election officer Ana Mei Barbacena, and representatives from various local government units in Quezon province.
