This recognition, presented at the CALABARZON Tourism Excellence Appreciation 2023 held at the Twin Lakes Hotel in Laurel, Batangas, on January 29, 2024, serves as a testament to Pagbilao's unwavering commitment to providing a world-class tourist experience.
Mayor Angelica "Gigi" Portes, accompanied by representatives of the Municipal Tourism Office, proudly received the plaque of recognition. The DOT expressed its gratitude for Pagbilao's continuous support throughout 2023, particularly in its efforts to develop human capital in tourism by providing training and educational opportunities for local stakeholders.
This indicates that, through training initiatives and educational opportunities, the Pagbilao local government actively invests in the knowledge and skill development of its tourists. This guarantees trained and equipped personnel that attend to the demands of visitors. In Calabarzon, the town is essential to the development and promotion of domestic tourism. Through creative projects, Pagbilao showcases its wide variety of both new and old sites, drawing more local tourists and boosting the area's tourism industry.
The event was also graced by the presence of DOT Assistant Secretary Rica Bueno, former DOT CALABARZON Regional Director Michael Palispis, and the current Regional Director, Marites Castro, alongside other government officials and tourism stakeholders. Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas also attended the event and expressed his support for Pagbilao's efforts to boost tourism in the region. He commended Pagbilao for its dedication to showcasing the beauty and cultural heritage of Calabarzon, which not only attracts visitors but also creates economic opportunities for the local residents.
