TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The city government of Tayabas on Friday, January 5, 2024, in support of the enforcement of Executive Order No. DHT-60, recently issued by the Provincial Governor of Quezon, issued a memorandum circular requiring the use of face masks.
The memorandum circular mandates, within the territorial jurisdiction of Tayabas City, Quezon, the wearing of face masks for indoor settings and in outdoor settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained, effective immediately.
Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso is also urging all residents to comply with the mandatory use of face masks in public places. The measure aims to safeguard the health and well-being of the community by reducing the transmission of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.
She said the city government is working towards ensuring an adequate supply of face masks for all residents to make compliance easier and more accessible. They are also planning to conduct information campaigns to educate the public about the importance of wearing face masks and following health protocols.
Quezon provincial government has earlier implemented an order signed by Provincial Governor Angelina Tan on December 27 but made public on Friday, December 29, 2023, on the official Facebook page of the Quezon Provincial government stated that "face masks shall continue to be worn for indoor settings and in outdoor settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained."
COVID-19 is still present, according to Department of Health (DOH) data, and wearing face masks is a crucial preventive measure in reducing the spread of the virus. By following this mandate, residents can contribute to the overall efforts to control the pandemic and keep their community safe.
The DOH previously reported 1,821 new COVID-19 cases from December 5 to 11, up from 1,340 new infections from November 28 to December 4. The most recent weekly case total translates to a daily average of 260 cases, up from 191 instances the previous week.
