PAGBILAO, Quezon - The local government of Pagbilao, led by Mayor Ate Gigi Portes-Tatlonghari, is doubling down on its successful Backyard Edible Landscaping program. The initiative, currently active in 27 barangays and MSKs, aims to address food security concerns within the community.
"This program directly tackles the issue of food shortage faced by some residents," Mayor Portes-Tatlonghari stated. "By providing them with the means to cultivate their own vegetables, we're empowering them towards self-sufficiency."
The program's success is evident in the diverse and abundant harvests already achieved. The mayor emphasizes the importance of continuous support and monitoring to further enhance these yields.
"Food security is paramount," she declared. "But this program goes beyond just putting food on the table. It also empowers residents to generate additional income through the sale of their surplus produce."
Pagbilao Energy Corporation, a joint venture between Therma Luzon Inc. and TeaM Energy Corporation, serves as a valuable partner in this endeavor. They contribute by providing essential resources such as crop seeds and farming equipment.
