PAGBILAO, Quezon - Twice a month, on the 15th and 30th, the town of Pagbilao, Quezon, hosts a vibrant market showcasing the best of local products at bargain prices.
This special initiative, known as "Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita" or "Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita," offers fresh, quality goods sourced directly from the community's farmers and producers.
Launched on February 15, 2024, by Mayor Angelica "Ate Gigi" Portes, the market bustles with stalls offering a wide variety of products. Expect to find seasonal vegetables and fruits, fresh meats, rice, and specialty products unique to Pagbilao.
The 'Kadiwa' market, located at the Pagbilao municipal park, remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participating sellers include local agricultural associations, fishers, cacao farmers, banana growers, the Rural Improvement Club (RIC), and Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI).
This program benefits both residents, who enjoy access to affordable goods, and local farmers and producers, who secure a reliable market for their harvests, which is why the local government encourages to enjoy the program and look out for it every 15th and 30th of the month.
This tradition echoes Pagbilao's historical role as a trading hub in the region, showcasing the town's rich agricultural heritage and promoting economic growth within the community. The municipal park also serves as a gathering place for residents to socialize and support local businesses, fostering a sense of community pride and unity.
