TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - Tayabas City, led by Mayor Lovely Reynoso Pontioso, has been honored with the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award at the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on January 12, 2024 at the Manila Hotel. This prestigious award recognizes the city's consistent dedication to implementing effective nutrition programs over the past three years.

"The City of Tayabas believes that success hinges on strong partnerships. By collaborating with the Local Nutrition Committee, stakeholders across various sectors, and our dedicated community, we strive to achieve our shared vision of a healthy and well-nourished Tayabas," said Mayor Pontioso.

The city's award-winning efforts have focused on initiatives such as the Tayabas City Lactation Hub and Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Feeding Program, among others. These programs directly address critical nutritional needs within the Tayabas community.

They also held seminars and workshops to educate residents about proper nutrition and healthy eating habits. Additionally, the City of Tayabas actively promotes local agriculture and supports farmers in growing nutritious crops, ensuring a sustainable source of fresh produce for its residents.

Mental health is another important aspect that the City of Tayabas prioritizes. Mayor Pontioso recognizes the importance of mental well-being and has implemented various programs and services to support the mental health needs of the community.

These initiatives include free counseling services, awareness campaigns, and partnerships with mental health organizations to provide resources and support to those in need. By addressing both physical and mental health needs, the City of Tayabas is committed to promoting a holistic approach to overall well-being for its residents.

In addition to the trophy, Tayabas City received a cash incentive of P500,000 to further support their nutrition initiatives. City Nutrition Action Officer Marinela Zaporteza-Chong joined Mayor Pontioso in accepting the award.
