TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The City Government of Tayabas is dedicated to providing comprehensive reproductive healthcare to its residents. This commitment is evident in their recent efforts to expand contraception services and offer a wider range of accessible contraceptive methods.

To ensure quality care, the city has invested in free women's contraception training for 35 female employees of the local health department. This training empowers healthcare professionals to provide effective guidance to women seeking the most suitable contraceptive methods.

As part of this initiative, the Gender and Development Office organized the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Seminar on March 14, 2024. Held at the New Tayabas City Hall Training Room, the seminar offered in-depth education on various contraceptives, their correct use, and the importance of responsible family planning.

"Investing in the education of women and girls is crucial for informed family planning decisions, reducing the need for abortion care," emphasized resource speaker Alvin Cloyd Dakis, Highly Technical Consultant on Gender and Development.

"Educating women on reproductive health is about empowerment. It leads to responsible family planning, stronger families, and more resilient communities. This is a vital investment in gender equality and a brighter future for us all." he added.

Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso champions initiatives like the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Seminar, furthering the city's mission to reduce unplanned pregnancies. This commitment extends to supporting healthcare professionals with training in contraceptive care, including IUD insertion and postpartum contraception.

Pontioso further emphasizes the importance of comprehensive sex education in schools. This empowers young women and girls with knowledge about their reproductive health, promoting informed decision-making. By combining quality healthcare services and education, the city aims to establish healthy family planning practices while reducing maternal mortality rates.
