GUMACA, Quezon – The sounds of wheels on concrete and cheers from the crowd filled the air as the Gumaca Skate Park officially opened its gates this week, a long-awaited dream for the skateboarding community.
The much-anticipated Skate Park in Barangay Peñafrancia is equipped with state-of-the-art ramps, rails, and obstacles to cater to skaters of all levels.
The park is open to the public and provides a welcoming environment for athletes and spectators. Mayor Letargo hopes that the skate park will not only promote physical activity but also foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the youth in Gumaca.
"This skate park is a dream come true for the skateboarding community of Gumaca and the surrounding areas," said Mayor Letargo. "We are proud to provide a safe and dedicated space for our youth to pursue their passion for this exciting sport."
The Gumaca Skate Park is the first of its kind in the fourth district of Quezon. The project was spearheaded by Mayor Letargo in collaboration with the Sangguniang Bayan and with the support of Municipal Engineer Irene Ubas and the Gumaca Skate Crew, led by Dave Roncale.
The event drew crowds of local skaters and skateboarding fans from neighboring towns. A lively mini-skate competition showcased the skills of the attendees, while food vendors and live band performances kept the energy high.
Overall, the Gumaca Skate Park is expected to become a hub for skaters in the region, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among enthusiasts and marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for skateboarding in the area.
