GENERAL LUNA, Quezon - General Luna Mayor Matt Florido's vision of a fully operational Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) campus in his town is rapidly becoming a reality.

In a recent Facebook post, the mayor expressed gratitude to Quezon lawmakers for their swift action in filing a bill to convert the current PUP General Luna extension into a regular campus.

"This is a dream come true for our community," Mayor Florido stated. "With the national government taking over funding, we can ensure that PUP General Luna offers top-notch education for years to come."

The landmark bill, authored by Quezon Representatives David “Jay-Jay” Suarez and Reynan Arrogancia, along with ALONA party-list Representative Alona Suarez, highlights the region's commitment to accessible higher education.

Currently, PUP General Luna operates as an extension campus, limiting resources and potential growth. As a regular campus, it would receive increased funding, allowing for expanded facilities, a wider range of course offerings, and the ability to attract top-tier faculty.

The move is expected to have a transformative impact on General Luna and the surrounding areas. "This opens doors for our students, who often have to travel long distances or relocate to pursue quality higher education," Mayor Florido explained. "A full-fledged PUP campus means opportunity right here in our own backyard."
