GENERAL NAKAR, Quezon - Barangay Canaway residents can finally look forward to brighter days ahead. The local government, led by General Nakar Mayor Esee Ruzol, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Quezon II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Quezelco II) to implement a barangay/rural electrification project.
This project marks a significant step towards bringing electricity to Sitio Masanga and Sitio Loilo in Barangay Canaway. Funding for the initiative comes from the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
"Access to electricity is essential for progress," General Nakar Mayor Ruzol said in a statement. "It provides lighting, improves service delivery, and allows for the operation of machinery, all of which contribute to a better quality of life for our residents."
The MOA signing ceremony, held on April 8, 2024, was attended by key officials from both the local government and Quezelco II, including Board of Directors President Annie Moises.
This project aligns with Mayor Ruzol's "Light Up General Nakar" campaign, which aims to ensure all areas of the municipality, especially far-flung and coastal barangays, have access to electricity.
The barangay/rural electrification project in Barangay Canaway is expected to be completed within the next six months, bringing much-needed power to over 200 households in the area. This initiative will not only improve the quality of life for residents but also boost economic development in the barangay.
The project is expected to bring numerous benefits to the community, including improved education, enhanced healthcare, economic growth, increased safety and security, and a better overall quality of life for residents.
