ATIMONAN, Quezon—Aspiring young basketball players from across Atimonan sank their shots and honed their skills during a week-long basketball sports clinic held from May 12 to 19. The clinic culminated in a friendly competition, showcasing the newfound talents of the participants.

This basketball clinic served as a kick-off event for the Atimonan Summer Sports Festival. The participants were able to apply the techniques they learned from experienced coaches and improve their overall performance on the court. The success of the clinic has sparked excitement for more sports events to come during the summer festival.

Organized by the Atimonan Sport Development Office (ASDO) under the leadership of Executive Assistant Atty. Alvis Uy, the clinic saw enthusiastic participation from youths in various districts. The program was made possible through collaboration with the Pambayan Federation League of Barangays, led by President Lorenzo Cesar Beranda, and the Pambayan Federation Sangguniang Kabataan, headed by President Rachel Rabilya.

The local government unit of Atimonan, under the leadership of Mayor Rustico "Ticoy" Joven Mendoza, strongly supported the initiative. Youths received training from experienced coaches from Mayor Mendoza's basketball cap team. The clinic focused on developing core basketball skills, including ball handling, dribbling, defensive techniques, shooting, footwork, and finishing moves.

This program highlights the Atimonan government's dedication to empowering its youth and fostering a love for sports. The organizers were impressed by the dedication and talent showcased by the young participants. Many attendees expressed their enthusiasm for the program and their hope for similar initiatives in the future.

"We are thrilled with the turnout and the positive energy at the clinic," remarked Mayor Mendoza. "Investing in our youth and providing them with opportunities to excel in sports is a key priority for my administration. I commend the ASDO, the Pambayan Federation League of Barangays, and the Pambayan Federation Sangguniang Kabataan for their hard work in making this a success."

The successful completion of the clinic signifies the collaborative strength of the ASDO, the Pambayan Pederasyon Liga ng mga barangay , and the Pambayan Pederasyon Sangguniang Kabataan. With the continued support of Mayor Mendoza, the Sangguniang Bayan, Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan, and 1st District Rep. Keith Micah "Atonri Mike" Tan, the Atimonan municipal government is well-positioned to cultivate a strong foundation for a thriving sports scene within the town.

This focus on youth development through sports programs promises to benefit the community for years to come. By nurturing young talent, Atimonan is laying the groundwork for future athletic achievements and fostering a lifelong love of sports among its residents.

Looking ahead, the ASDO is exploring the possibility of holding similar clinics in other sports, expanding opportunities for youth in Atimonan. The success of this basketball clinic serves as a springboard for the development of a comprehensive youth sports program in the town.
