LUCBAN, Quezon – Connected Women Quezon (CWQ) marked their first anniversary and Mother's Day with a special outreach initiative, bringing joy and support to the children of Still Waters Kid's Home Inc. in Majayjay, Laguna, and the elderly at Sinag Kalinga Foundation Inc. in Lucban, Quezon on May 11, 2024.

The initiative began with a live selling event weeks prior, where goods donated by CWQ members and the wider community were sold to raise funds. The proceeds were used to benefit the children and elderly served by the respective foundations, showcasing a strong community effort. This year marked CWQ’s third visit to Still Waters Kid's Home and their first visit to Sinag Kalinga, expanding their impact within the community.

Members of CWQ, alongside their friends and family, contributed generously through both cash and in-kind donations, ensuring that the outreach event was a success. "It's not just about the donations, but also the personal time and effort that our members put in. These are what truly make the biggest impact," said Jobelle Medina-Zilmar, a CWQ member who spearheaded the initiative, during the event.

The group, which aims to inspire and empower local women and mothers, has dedicated itself to spearheading activities that strengthen community ties and support those in need. This recent initiative is just one example of how CWQ uses significant dates like their anniversary and Mother's Day to reinforce their commitment to community service.

As CWQ continues to grow, they remain focused on encouraging more community-driven initiatives that support and empower the less fortunate. "Our goal is to inspire actions that strengthen our community, and we are thankful for the continued support from our members and the community to make events like this possible," added Jobelle.

The day was filled with activities, smiles, and an overwhelming sense of community spirit, proving that CWQ’s efforts are not only appreciated but are also making a significant difference in the lives of many.
