LUCENA CITY, Quezon - The House Committee on Tourism has recently approved House Bill No. 9398, authored by Quezon 4th District Representative Keith Micah "Atorni Mike" Tan, which aims to declare the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City as a sports tourism destination.

This landmark bill seeks to boost sports tourism in the province of Quezon by leveraging the existing facilities of the Quezon Convention Center. The initiative aligns with the national government's goal of becoming a leading tourism destination in Asia within the next five years, as outlined in the 2023-2028 National Tourism Development Plan.

"We believe this bill will significantly contribute to our country's tourism growth and development," said Rep. Tan. "The Quezon Convention Center has the potential to become a major hub for sports events, attracting athletes and tourists from all over the country and beyond."

The bill also complements the Provincial Government's vision of establishing Quezon Province as the premier agri-tourism destination in the region by 2030. By promoting sports tourism, the province aims to create a more diverse and dynamic tourism industry that caters to a wider range of interests.

Rep. Tan emphasized the importance of sports tourism in boosting the local economy and creating employment opportunities. He expressed confidence that the passage of this bill will have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Quezon Province.

The bill is now pending before the House of Representatives for further deliberation and approval. If passed, it is expected to pave the way for the development and promotion of sports tourism in Quezon Province, contributing to the province's economic growth and overall progress.

Representative Atorni Mike Tan is a dedicated public servant committed to the development and progress of Quezon Province. He has been actively advocating for legislation that promotes tourism, economic growth, and social welfare.
