TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - Hundreds of job seekers found promising opportunities at the PESO Job Fair and Mobile Services 2024, a highlight of the 36th Mayohan sa Tayabas Festival held on May 15, 2024 at the Silungang Bayan ng Tayabas. The event showcased the city's dedication to economic growth and workforce development, connecting local talent with a diverse range of employers from various industries.

With over 160 job openings from various industries, the fair offered a diverse range of positions, from entry-level to managerial roles. Local companies such as Sandford Marketing Corporation, ACE Hardware Philippines, Inc., and CDO Foodshare Inc. were among the many employers seeking skilled workers. Additionally, an overseas company offered opportunities in housekeeping, driving, and supervision, providing avenues for international employment.

When asked why the job fair was held in conjunction with the Mayohan Festival, City Tayabas Peso Manager Mary Lou Montoya stated, "In celebration of the 36th Mayohan sa Tayabas Festival, the PESO Job Fair and Mobile Services was held as an employment facilitation strategy. The activity aims to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue for an improved employment level and access to employment opportunities for the Tayabasin."

Montoya added, "After the job interview, qualified applicants will be contacted by the employers either for further interview, medical examination and hiring, or presentation of a job offer. If the job applicant was not hired by the employer, the applicant may report to PESO for job matching and for endorsement by other companies that meet their qualifications and job experience."

Government mobile services were also present, streamlining the application process for job seekers. These services included SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG (HDMF) membership; issuance of PSA birth certificates and marriage contracts; issuance of community tax certificates (CTC) or cedulas; online applications for police and NBI clearances; online passport appointments at DFA; and DTI inquiries and registration.

Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso and Vice Mayor Rosauro Dalida, along with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), spearheaded this successful event, further solidifying Tayabas City's reputation as a thriving and supportive community for its workforce.

Mayor Reynoso-Pontioso emphasized the city's dedication to fostering economic growth and empowering residents: "This event not only provided job seekers with a platform to connect with potential employers, but also offered various services such as skills training and career counseling to further enhance their employability."

The strong partnership between the local government and the private sector highlights Tayabas City's proactive approach to addressing unemployment. The city remains committed to organizing similar events regularly and collaborating with stakeholders to create more job opportunities and support programs for the community.
