QUEZON, Quezon - The Municipality of Quezon, Quezon, is proud to announce its inclusion in the 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) passers list. This achievement follows a successful after-assessment conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government's Bureau of Local Government Supervision (DILG-BLGS) in February 2024, reversing an initial exclusion from the list that had caused concern among residents.

Quezon Mayor Juan Escolano recently expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating, "This achievement is a testament to our unwavering commitment to transparent and accountable financial management. While the initial results were disappointing, our appeal process allowed us to showcase the robust financial practices we have in place."

The GFH is a prestigious recognition that signifies a local government's adherence to rigorous standards of financial management, transparency, and accountability. Quezon, Quezon's successful passing of the GFH assessment demonstrates its responsible handling of public funds and solidifies its trustworthiness among citizens and stakeholders.

The GFH status brings significant benefits to Quezon, Quezon, including increased trust and credibility among residents and investors, access to additional funding opportunities from government agencies and development partners, attractiveness to investors due to proven financial competence, and demonstration of commitment to financial regulations and transparent operations.

The municipality's success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the local government, its dedicated employees, and the active participation of its citizens. This milestone is expected to have a positive impact on the community, enabling Quezon, Quezon to invest in critical infrastructure projects, enhance public services, and foster sustainable development.

In addition to the GFH recognition, Quezon, Quezon also received the 2024 Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PHALGA) Excellence Award on May 15, 2024. This award acknowledges the municipality's achievement of an Unmodified COA Audit Opinion on the 2022 Financial Statements, further highlighting the Municipal Accounting Office's professionalism, integrity, and excellence under the leadership of Jocelyn A. Sisperez.

Looking to the future, the Municipality of Quezon, Quezon is committed to leveraging these accomplishments to drive progress and prosperity for its residents. The GFH status and PHALGA award serve as a solid foundation for economic growth, attracting new investments and creating employment opportunities. With a focus on financial stability and responsible governance, the municipality is well-positioned to embark on ambitious projects that will benefit the entire community.
