TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - In the ongoing fight against child undernourishment, Tayabas City Mayor Lovely Reynoso and City Nutrition Action Officer Manel Saporteza Chong recently visited the five-hectare organic vegetable farm of the Rice and Revealed International Foundation (RRIF) in Barangay Tiis, Lucban, Quezon.
The farm, established in 2021 with support from the Tayabas City Agriculture Office, provides fresh produce to combat child undernourishment. RRIF partners with the local government on a feeding program that, according to the City Nutrition Office, has already benefited 506 undernourished children in Tayabas.
Saporteza-Chong mentioned that the partnership with RRIF has significantly contributed to the improvement of the nutritional status of children in Tayabas City. Mayor Reynoso expressed her gratitude for the collaboration and emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture in addressing undernourishment issues.
Reynoso also highlighted the need for continued support and resources to ensure the success and longevity of the feeding program. The partnership between RRIF and the local government is a crucial step towards achieving a healthier community in Tayabas City.
Mayor Reynoso also met with farm workers, ensuring their wellbeing and providing vitamins, supplements, and groceries to support their health and nutrition. Additionally, she discussed plans for implementing community gardens to further promote access to fresh produce for residents in need.
Malnourishment remains a pressing concern in Tayabas City, but Mayor Reynoso's proactive approach and collaboration with RRIF show promise in addressing these issues effectively. By focusing on both immediate assistance and long-term solutions, the community is taking steps towards a healthier future for all residents.
