TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – The City of Tayabas celebrated a year of sustained progress and development today, marking the first anniversary of its Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) status. Local leaders renewed their commitment to peace and security by re-signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the commemorative event.

The signing and commemoration of the first year of SIPS took place at the Silungang Bayan of Tayabas City this Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso led the celebration, emphasizing the positive impact that SIPS status has had on Tayabas City. She expressed gratitude for the collaboration between partnering agencies and stressed the importance of continued cooperation to ensure lasting peace and progress.

"This SIPS declaration is a testament to the sacrifices, bravery, and unified efforts of our community," Mayor Reynoso-Pontioso declared. "Insurgency is a challenge we must overcome together, and today we reaffirm our commitment to that goal."

She also said that the city will continue to work closely with the national government and security forces to ensure that peace and progress are sustained for the benefit of all residents.
Pltcol. Erickson Koranes acknowledged the crucial role played by the community in attaining SIPS status and pledged continued efforts to maintain peace and order.

Pltcol. Koranes added, "This declaration of SIPS status is the result of the sacrifices, bravery, and cooperation of our people. Insurgency is not just a lone responsibility of the AFP or any uniform service but a result of our unity.”

PCol. Raymund Liguden, CIDG-10 regional chief, reinforced the PNP's dedication to partnering with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) to uphold peace and order, enabling the community to thrive.

He also stressed the importance of the community's active participation in reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Tayabas City's SIPS status, a key indicator of an insurgency-free community, was achieved through successful Local Peace Engagement (LPE) initiatives and effective multi-sectoral collaboration. As the first city in Quezon Province to earn this designation, Tayabas sets a positive example for the region.
