TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The Quezon Province Cocolympics 2024, organized by the Office of the City Agriculture, brought together participants from 13 towns in the first district of Quezon, testing their speed, strategy, and culinary expertise.

The event, held in Silungang Bayan ng Tayabas on June 20, 2024, showcased a series of five competitive games, each designed to highlight different aspects of the province's rich coconut industry.

In the "Coconut Relay," the town of Mauban emerged victorious, demonstrating impressive speed and coordination. Bordeaux showcased their culinary genius, winning the "Palnasang Gen Z: Cooking contest" with their innovative and delicious coconut-based dishes.

Lucban's mastery of lambanog production was evident in their triumph in the "Lambanog Relay." Polillo's strategic thinking led them to victory in the "Quezon, Game knb?" quiz, while Lucban once again proved their prowess in the final "Bangus deboning relay."

Each winning town was awarded a generous cash prize ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 pesos, while all participating towns received a 5,000 pesos consolation prize.

The next Cocolympics is set to be held in Polillo, Quezon, promising even more excitement and fierce competition.

Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso of Tayabas, while unable to attend, expressed her unwavering support for the Cocolympics through her representative, Miguel Romero, emphasizing the event's significance in showcasing and celebrating the province's vibrant coconut industry. The Cocolympics 2024 served as a shining example of the talent, ingenuity, and competitive spirit that flourishes within the people of Quezon Province.

The games also served as a platform to promote sustainable practices and innovations within the coconut industry, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose among the participants and spectators alike. As the torch is passed to Polillo for the next Cocolympics, the legacy of this year's event will undoubtedly inspire future generations to continue to celebrate and elevate the province's rich coconut heritage.
