SARIAYA, Quezon – The first-ever Vegetable Summit, held in Brgy. Montecillo showcased the agricultural richness of Quezon Province's second district. Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan, joined Sariaya Mayor Marcelo Gayeta and local farmers in celebrating the event, which included harvesting eggplants and sampling the fiery siling labuyo peppers.

Mayor Gayeta, in his opening remarks, expressed his deep gratitude for the farmers' dedication, stating, "This summit is not just a celebration of our agricultural heritage but also a testament to the unwavering commitment and tireless efforts of our farmers, who are the backbone of our community."

He emphasized the summit's role in fostering collaboration and innovation, adding, "By bringing together farmers, experts, and stakeholders, we are creating a platform for collaboration, learning, and innovation that will propel our agricultural sector to new heights."

He also highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in agriculture and the need for continuous education and training to keep up with industry advancements. The mayor encouraged everyone present to actively participate in discussions, share knowledge, and work together towards a more prosperous and sustainable future for our agricultural community.

The event, supported by Ramgo International Corporation, East West Seed, and Allied Botanical Corporation, provided farmers with valuable resources and knowledge-sharing opportunities. A highlight was a farm tour showcasing various vegetables and sustainable farming practices. The seed companies committed to ongoing partnerships with the farmers, offering guidance and support on cultivation techniques.

During the farm tour, DA IV-A Regional Director Fidel Libao explained the importance of utilizing balanced fertilizers and appropriate application methods to optimize crop yields and maintain soil health. He emphasized the significance of considering soil nutrient content and crop-specific requirements when selecting fertilizers. Additionally, a cucumber and siling labuyo eating contest and a symposium allowed for further engagement and learning.

Libao also highlighted the benefits of integrated pest management practices in reducing chemical inputs and promoting sustainable agriculture. Overall, the event served as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration between farmers and agricultural experts.

The Vegetable Summit emphasized sustainable agriculture. Experts shared insights on organic farming, pest control, and water management, empowering farmers to increase yields while protecting the environment.

Governor Tan highlighted the vegetable industry's potential to boost the local economy and improve farmers' livelihoods. The success of the summit sets the stage for future initiatives to strengthen Quezon Province's agricultural sector. She concluded the event with optimism, stating, "Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous agricultural sector that will benefit not only our farmers but also the entire community."

She emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, farmers, and other stakeholders to ensure sustainable growth in the agricultural sector. She also encouraged continued investment in research and technology to further enhance productivity and sustainability in farming practices.
