DOLORES, Quezon – The municipality of Dolores has emerged as a standout among its CALABARZON counterparts and the entire Philippines after recently securing a P2.8 million grant from the Indian government. The funding, awarded under the Indian Grant Assistance for Implementation of Quick Impact Projects, will be utilized to construct the UNLAD Farmers’ Training Center.
Dolores Mayor Orlan Calayag personally received the grant from Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. and Dr. Sadre Alam, Chargès d’Affaires of the Embassy of India, during a signing ceremony held at the PNP National Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City. Municipal Engineer Isaiah Dominic Alilio was also present at the event.
Dolores is the sole recipient of the Indian grant in the entire CALABARZON region and one of only six local government units nationwide to secure this funding.
The UNLAD Farmers’ Training Center is poised to benefit over 3,680 registered Doloresin farmers by offering training in modern farm management, crop cultivation, and other essential agricultural skills. The project aims to enhance the livelihoods of local farmers and contribute to the overall development of the municipality.
"This is a monumental achievement for Dolores," Mayor Calayag expressed. "Securing this grant is a testament to our town's dedication to agricultural progress and the well-being of our farmers. We are immensely grateful to the Indian government for this opportunity."
The mayor further emphasized the importance of the project, stating, "The UNLAD Farmers’ Training Center will equip our farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in today's agricultural landscape. This project is a significant step towards a more prosperous and sustainable Dolores."
"We envision a Dolores where farmers are empowered, productive, and contributing significantly to our local economy," Mayor Calayag added. "This grant brings us closer to realizing that vision."
