TIAONG, Quezon -Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea, highlighted the progress Tiaong, Quezon has made in recent years in his State of the Municipal Address on July 24, 2024. He emphasized that this progress is a testament to the importance of focusing on seemingly simple steps that can have a significant impact on the lives of residents. One such example, he pointed to, was the administration's focus on creating a clean and organized work environment within municipal offices.
"A clean and organized workspace fosters a sense of professionalism and efficiency," Mayor Mea said. "This directly translates to better service for our residents. I honestly didn't expect such a simple goal to have such a wide-ranging impact, but it's a testament to the importance of creating a positive work environment."
This commitment to clean governance extends beyond tidy workplaces. Digital transformation programs and social programs directly impacting residents' lives are further testaments to the mayor's dedication to progress. The environment has also seen positive enhancements as the administration prioritizes sustainability in its projects.
Residents of Tiaong now enjoy faster and more reliable access to essential certificates, like birth, marriage, and death documents, thanks to a successful digitalization program implemented under Mayor Mea. This shift to digital record-keeping streamlines processes, reduces paper waste, and demonstrates the administration's commitment to modernizing public services.
"We're embracing technology to make government services more accessible and convenient for our residents," explained Mayor Mea. "The digitalization program not only saves time but also contributes to a greener environment by reducing paper usage."
The Mea administration hasn't forgotten Tiaong's most vulnerable residents. A targeted registration assistance program recently helped 108 marginalized individuals obtain crucial legal documents. This empowers them to exercise their rights and access essential government services.
Multiple financial assistance programs have provided much-needed relief to residents facing financial hardship. The Aksyon Agad Center distributed nearly 5.4 million pesos to over 5,600 individuals to address medical and transportation needs. Adding to this effort, Mayor Mea himself generously donated an additional 10 million pesos to support another 4,500 residents.
Over 13,000 senior citizens in Tiaong can now rely on continued monthly financial aid totaling 39 million pesos. This program, combined with the social pension for indigent seniors from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting this vital population group.
Similarly, the administration prioritizes people with disabilities. Over 2,400 individuals received monthly financial aid of 7.4 million pesos from July 2023 to June 2024, along with free medical devices, to improve their quality of life.
Programs targeting solo parents go beyond just financial aid. Training workshops equip them with valuable skills in perfume and soap making, empowering them to become self-sufficient and build a brighter future for themselves and their families. The administration further supports solo parents by distributing PCSO food packs and providing a quarterly cash assistance program of 500 pesos each to the 370 registered solo parents in Tiaong.
Recognizing the importance of women's economic independence, Mayor Mea implemented livelihood programs specifically designed for them. These programs provide the resources and training needed to start or expand businesses, boosting both household income and Tiaong's overall economic growth.
In recognition of the LGBTQIA+ community's needs, Mayor Mea allocated an additional 500,000 pesos in funding to support their programs and initiatives. This demonstrates the administration's commitment to inclusivity and ensuring all residents have access to resources.
Beyond the immediate social programs, mayor's administration has invested millions of pesos in agriculture, education, transportation, and infrastructure projects. These investments are crucial for Tiaong's long-term growth and prosperity. Upgrading transportation infrastructure will enhance connectivity and open up economic opportunities, while investments in education will equip future generations with the skills they need to succeed.
Supporting agriculture ensures food security and provides a livelihood for many residents. The focus on environmental sustainability is also evident in these projects, with a potential emphasis on renewable energy sources or eco-friendly infrastructure development.
Tiaong's progress under Mea's leadership hasn't gone unnoticed. The municipality recently received the prestigious 2024 PHALGA Excellence Award, an award given to local governments with an Unmodified/Unqualified Audit Opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA). This recognition highlights the administration's commitment to financial transparency and accountable governance.
"We are honored to receive the PHALGA Excellence Award," said Mayor Mea. "This award motivates us to keep striving for even greater progress in Tiaong. We are committed to building a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future for all our residents."
Mayor Mea is a visionary leader dedicated to the betterment of the entire municipality. His commitment is evident in the policies and programs he implements to benefit the community. This recent award recognizes the local government's hard work and transparency in financial management.
However, Mayor Mea acknowledges the importance of collaboration. He expresses his gratitude for the support of residents, local officials, and stakeholders, all working together towards shared goals. A man of action, Mayor Mea's proactive and collaborative approach has been key to driving positive change. Under his leadership, the municipality has witnessed significant improvements in governance and overall quality of life.
