LUCENA CITY, Quezon – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally distributed more than Php170 million in aid and support to the agricultural sector in Calabarzon during his visit to the region on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

The aid, distributed under the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families (PAFFF) program, included cash assistance for farmers and fishermen affected by El Niño, as well as support for provincial governments' agricultural programs.



President Marcos emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector, stating that farmers and fishermen can expect continued assistance in achieving a more prosperous and progressive New Philippines.

The aid package included a variety of resources, such as farm machinery, equipment, fiber boats, seeds, fishing cages, and other materials that are part of various agricultural programs, including the DA Rice Program, Corn Program, High Value Crops Development Program, National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program, Livestock Program, and Organic Agriculture Program.

Aside from the PAFFF program, recipients could also access economic initiatives from the offices of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and some other government agencies.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the government's assistance, stating that it will help them rebuild and further develop their livelihoods.

Quezon Province receives P28.81M in aid from Pres. Marcos Jr.

Quezon Province was among the recipients of the presidential assistance under the PAFFF program, receiving P28.81 million in aid for those affected by El Niño. The aid was personally accepted by Vice Governor Third Alcala on behalf of Governor Doktora Helen Tan.

In addition, the Quezon Provincial Government received ten Animal Hauling Trucks and financial assistance totaling P271,055,834 from the Department of Agriculture (DA), as well as P50 million in credit assistance for small AgriBusinesses. The local government of Tagkawayan was also awarded P1 million for their Clean and Rich Ocean Project.

President Marcos assured the beneficiaries that this assistance is just the beginning and that with the help of various government agencies, programs will continue to be provided to help farmers, fishermen, and families. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in overcoming challenges and achieving a more prosperous future for the New Philippines.
