QUEZON, Quezon - Quezon, Quezon, led by Mayor Juan Escolano and Vice Mayor Pedrito Alibarbar, affirmed its dedication to fostering an inclusive environment for persons with disabilities (PWDs) during the recent National Disability Rights Week.

The commemoration, held on July 22, 2024, during the regular flag-raising ceremony, centered on the theme "Promoting Inclusion: Celebrating Abilities and Advocating Access." The event brought together government officials, staff, and community members to celebrate diversity and champion the rights of PWDs.

A highlight of the event was the distribution of learning materials by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), headed by Erma Barretto, to Child Development Workers from each barangay. These resources are intended to empower the workers and enhance their ability to serve and educate children in the upcoming school year.

"This is a testament to our local government's dedication to ensuring the well-being and integration of all members of our community," said Mayor Escolano. "We will continue to develop programs and activities that empower PWDs and cultivate an inclusive environment for everyone." He added, "By providing these learning materials, we are investing in the future of our children and ensuring that they have the tools they need to succeed."

Mayor Escolano also emphasized the importance of recognizing the unique abilities and contributions of PWDs, stating, "We believe that everyone has something valuable to offer, and we are committed to creating a society where everyone can participate fully and reach their full potential."

The distribution of learning materials serves as a tangible example of the local government's dedication to providing quality education and resources to all children, regardless of ability. This initiative plays a crucial role in ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

The National Disability Rights Week celebration and the distribution of learning materials not only showcase Quezon, Quezon's solidarity with PWDs but also inspire other communities to create welcoming and inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and empowered.
