ALABAT, Quezon - Team Energy Corporation recently partnered with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Quezon to bring a wealth of science and technology resources to Cesar C. Tan Memorial National High School (CCTMNHS), a remote school located on Alabat Island.

Team Energy's generous donation included three (3) computer hardware units, a 75-inch television, a WiFi modem, and other computer accessories. This equipment allows CCTMNHS to utilize STARBOOKS, a digital library developed by DOST's Science and Technology Information Institute (STII).

STARBOOKS provides access to a vast collection of digitized science and technology resources, including books, journals, theses, technical reports, and even the K-12 Curriculum. Importantly, STARBOOKS can be accessed both online and offline, making it a valuable tool regardless of internet connectivity limitations.

DOST Quezon Unice Faith Cataquiz and Aldwin Royena, conducted a STARBOOKS orientation and training session for CCTMNHS teachers. This ensures teachers can effectively utilize the platform and integrate it into their curriculum.

A separate meeting addressed the long-term sustainability of the Mini Science Centrum launched at CCTMNHS last April. Ms. Myra Soriano, Mini Science Centrum Focal Person, and Ms. Greta Entoma, School Principal, presented a strategic plan to ensure continued public access to the science center.

Further demonstrating their commitment to CCTMNHS students, DOST Quezon also provided 500 packs of SIGLA Crunchies, a complementary food developed by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) to combat malnutrition. These will be distributed to students during the upcoming school opening.

Team Energy's collaboration with DOST Quezon exemplifies a successful public-private partnership that empowers remote schools aims to bridge the educational gap for students in geographically isolated areas.. By providing essential resources and fostering a culture of scientific exploration, this initiative equips students in Alabat Island with the tools they need to succeed.
