PAGBILAO, Quezon - More than 600 farmers in Pagbilao received a boost to their livelihoods through government agricultural support in the form of seeds, fertilizers, and training programs. The assistance was distributed by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and 1st District Congressman Mark Enverga.
The farmers received 1,100 bags of fertilizers, 5 units of multi-purpose applicators, 100 sacks of Muriate of Potash fertilizer, vegetable seeds, and coconut seedlings. In addition, two major infrastructure projects were turned over: the Anato Diversion Dam project and the Repair of the Dam in Water Biyaya Irrigators Assn. of Flood.
The event was attended by Pagbilao Mayor Angelica "Gigi" Portes and Zaldy Gariguez, who represented Cong. Enverga. Mayor Portes affirmed the government's dedication to empowering farmers and fostering the growth of the agricultural sector. She also highlighted the importance of sustainable agriculture practices and the need for continuous support.
In addition, two major infrastructure projects were turned over: the Anato Diversion Dam project, worth P 7.9 million, and the P6.528 million Repair of the Dam in Water Biyaya Irrigators Assn. of Flood. Pagbilao Mayor Angelica "Gigi" Portes and Zaldy Gariguez, who represented Cong. Enverga graced the event, underscoring the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
"This is a testament to our dedication to empowering our farmers and fostering the growth of our agricultural sector," Mayor Portes affirmed.
She also highlighted the importance of sustainable agriculture practices and the need for continuous support from both the government and private sector to ensure the success of farmers in Pagbilao.
On the other hand, Cong. Enverga expressed his gratitude to the national government and various agricultural agencies for their collaborative efforts and reaffirmed his commitment to working with Mayor Portes to address the needs of Pagbilao's farmers.
These agricultural interventions and infrastructure projects are expected to significantly impact the local farming community, leading to increased productivity, improved livelihoods, and a more resilient agricultural sector in Pagbilao.
