LUCENA CITY, Quezon - To propel economic growth and empower local entrepreneurs, Quezon Province is forging a powerful partnership with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The newly launched "Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon" Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to uplift the province's Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing them with the tools, support, and market access they need to thrive.
Unveiled during a momentous MOA signing ceremony graced by Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan and FDA Director General Dr. Samuel Zacate, the program adopts a multi-faceted approach to strengthen MSMEs. Key highlights include expedited FDA approval processes, extensive training programs, expert technical assistance, and strategic initiatives to enhance product presentation and expand market reach.
Gov. Tan expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating, "This is an investment in our province's future. We are committed to helping our small businesses grow and succeed."
The program offers a multi-faceted approach to bolstering MSMEs, including streamlined FDA approval to expedite product launches, comprehensive training programs to equip entrepreneurs with essential business skills, and ongoing technical assistance to help them navigate challenges and seize growth opportunities.
In addition, Governor Tan announced a suite of measures to further strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. These include a 16-day intensive step up Development Program to equip MSMEs with crucial business skills. "We believe that empowering our entrepreneurs with knowledge and skills is key to their success," she emphasized.
The provision of new packaging and display materials aims to enhance product presentation and appeal. "We want our local products to stand out and compete in the market," Governor Tan added.
The establishment of "Pasalubong Centers" and refrigerated trucks will expand product reach and ensure freshness. "This will help our MSMEs reach a wider customer base and maintain the quality of their products," she explained.
Active assistance in connecting small businesses with international markets is another key component of the program. "We're opening doors to export opportunities, helping our MSMEs tap into the global marketplace," Governor Tan stated.
FDA Director General Dr. Samuel Zacate echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of product quality and safety. "Through registration and comprehensive training, we aim to empower MSMEs to produce goods that meet the highest standards, ensuring their competitiveness both locally and internationally," he remarked.
The initiative has been met with widespread enthusiasm from local business leaders and officials. Maria Santos, President of the Quezon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commented, "This program is a game-changer for our MSMEs. It provides them with the much-needed support to grow and thrive."
Quezon, already renowned for its rich agricultural heritage, particularly in coconut and cocoa production, is poised to further solidify its reputation as a source of high-quality, value-added products.
The ""Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon" Program is expected to spur innovation and growth in these sectors, leading to the development of new and exciting products that showcase the unique flavors and ingredients of the province. From artisanal chocolates and coconut-based snacks to cosmetics and wellness products, Quezon's MSMEs are ready to take their place on the global stage.
With the "Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon" Program, the province's small businesses are well on their way to a brighter future, contributing not only to the local economy but also to the rich tapestry of Filipino entrepreneurship.
