LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Pure Energy Holdings Corporation (PEHC) is significantly expanding its renewable energy footprint in Quezon Province. In a recent strategic meeting key stakeholders discussed plans for a new Hydro Power Plant project in the Mauban to Real area.

Former Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) Commander, Lieutenant General Caesar Ronnie Ordoyo, representatives from Pure Energy Holdings Corporation (PEHC), Melvyn Papa and Raymart Habreo, and Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan recently convened to explore pathways for advancing this proposed Hydro Power Plant project planned for the Mauban to Real area.

The proposed Mauban-Real Hydro Power Plant holds the potential to significantly bolster the region's energy capacity while promoting sustainable development. It builds upon PEHC's successful track record in the region, which includes the recent commissioning of the 5.8-megawatt Tibag run-of-river hydropower plant in Mauban, Quezon, and the nearing completion of the 1.4-MW Lower Labayat hydropower plant.

PEHC's commitment to renewable energy in Quezon is further underscored by their ongoing construction of two mini-hydropower plants in Real, Quezon, a P660-million investment that is expected to generate 3 megawatts of clean energy, power approximately 7,000 households, and create over 400 jobs. As Blue Energy President and CEO Christopher Tiu stated in 2017, "These power plants will harness our abundant river waters to generate electricity in a clean and sustainable manner."

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between government, military, and the private sector in driving forward crucial infrastructure projects. Lieutenant General Ordoyo expressed his support for initiatives that uplift the community, while PEHC representatives highlighted the project's potential benefits, encompassing increased energy capacity, job creation, and economic growth. The governor expressed enthusiasm for the project and assured the provincial government's full support.

This project aligns with PEHC's broader vision for sustainable development, which also includes their recent foray into digital agriculture. The company plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and renewable energy to grow crops in climate-controlled indoor farms, further demonstrating their commitment to innovative and environmentally conscious solutions.

PEHC President Eric Peter Roxas emphasized the company's dedication to high-value crops, stating, "we will not pursue lower-margin vegetables such as lettuces or local tomatoes given there are a dime a dozen greenhouse-grown bitter or sour produce of these everywhere"

In addition to the Mauban-Real project, PEHC and its partners have already commenced construction on two mini-hydropower plants in Real, Quezon. These plants, the Lower Labayat and Upper Tignoan, are expected to be completed in 2019 and will further augment the clean power supply in the region.

The consortium behind this project, which includes PEHC subsidiaries Blue Energy Holdings and Management Corp. and Repower Energy Development Corp (REDC), aims to apply for the feed-in-tariff (FiT) rate of P5.90 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for run-of-river mini-hydropower upon completion. Mini-hydropower plants offer numerous advantages, including minimal environmental impact, reliable energy generation, cost-effectiveness, and the ability to provide power to remote areas. They are a key component in promoting sustainable development and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

PEHC's subsidiary, REDC, is at the forefront of mini-hydropower development in the Philippines. With a focus on a "clustered approach method" that maximizes efficiency and reduces costs, REDC has 124 MW of mini-hydropower projects under development across the country.

This represents a significant investment in clean energy infrastructure and highlights REDC's commitment to providing sustainable power solutions to communities nationwide. REDC is also actively involved in acquiring and revitalizing existing hydropower plants, ensuring their continued contribution to the Philippines' renewable energy landscape.

The Mauban-Real Hydro Power Plant project is currently in the planning phase, with further studies and consultations slated for the coming months. All parties involved expressed optimism about the project's potential to contribute significantly to the region's energy security and sustainable development goals. The collaboration showcased in this meeting, coupled with PEHC's active investments in the region, signifies a promising step towards a greener and more prosperous future for Quezon.

Pure Energy Holdings Corporation is a leading renewable energy company dedicated to developing sustainable and efficient energy solutions. The company has a proven track record in developing and operating renewable energy projects across the Philippines, and is now expanding its portfolio to include innovative agricultural solutions.
