CANDELARIA, Quezon - To boost local businesses and promote homegrown products, Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan inaugurated the "Quezon TANkilik Hub" at WalterMart Candelaria on September 13, 2024. The hub serves as a dedicated space for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Quezon Province with a dedicated platform to connect with consumers and boost their businesses.
WalterMart Candelaria has generously offered the use of their facility rent-free until December 31, allowing a variety of products that are the pride of the province to be showcased and purchased. This collaboration between the Provincial Government and Walter Mart Candelaria, supported by DTI Quezon, Candelaria Mayor Ogie Suayan, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to provide opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to gain greater recognition for their locally-made products.
From artisanal food and beverages that tantalize the taste buds to handcrafted home decor, fashion accessories, and souvenirs that capture the essence of Quezon's rich cultural heritage, the hub offers a diverse and enticing selection for shoppers.
Gov. Tan spearheaded this initiative, emphasizing its strategic timing alongside the recently passed Investment and Incentives Code of 2024. This new code aims to attract more investments and stimulate economic activity in the province by offering tax breaks, simplified business registration processes, and other incentives to entrepreneurs. "This hub, coupled with the new incentives code, creates a powerful ecosystem for our MSMEs to flourish,"
She stated during the opening ceremony. "We are committed to providing our entrepreneurs with the tools and support they need to succeed." She also expressed her gratitude to WalterMart Candelaria for their generous support in providing rent-free space to the entrepreneurs until the end of the year, easing the financial burden for these budding businesses.
Jerico Buñing, Senior Vice President and General Manager of WalterMart Community Malls, shared Governor Tan's enthusiasm, stating, "We believe in the potential of Quezon's entrepreneurs, and we're excited to be a part of their journey." He even hinted at the possibility of expanding the reach of Quezon's unique products to other WalterMart branches across the country, opening doors to larger markets and increased sales opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
"The "Tara Na sa Quezon TANkilik Hub" is more than just a marketplace; it is a symbol of the provincial government's unwavering commitment to empowering local businesses and fostering a vibrant and sustainable economy in Quezon. This hub represents hope and opportunity for our MSMEs by supporting local businesses, we are investing in the future of our province." he added.
