DOLORES, Quezon - A new landmark is set to rise in Dolores after the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly-anticipated UNLAD Community College on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Local officials, esteemed guests, and various stakeholders gathered to mark the commencement of construction for this beacon of hope and opportunity for the town's youth.

The college, located at the Unlad Government Center, Brgy. Bulakin 2, is a long-held aspiration of the community. It is poised to provide accessible and affordable higher education, paving the way for a more progressive and prosperous future for Dolores. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, modern classrooms, and well-equipped laboratories, the college will offer students a conducive learning environment.



In his address, Mayor Orlan Calayag expressed his gratitude to all the partner offices who played a crucial role in making this project a reality. He emphasized that the college represents more than just an educational institution; it symbolizes hope and transformation for the community's youth.

"This college is not just a school; it is a symbol of hope and change for the youth in our community," stated Mayor Calayag. "Through this, we hope that more young people will have the opportunity to achieve their dreams and ambitions without having to go far and go to another town to study."

The groundbreaking marks the culmination of years of planning and collaboration between local government, DepEd, and various stakeholders. The Mayor acknowledged the long road ahead in bringing this project to fruition, inviting everyone to join hands in realizing this collective dream for a more progressive and prosperous future, particularly for the young generation of Dolores.

Reflecting on the journey, Mayor Calayag shared, "This is the beginning of a little dream of ours that now we will gradually fulfill. I am very happy because I can see that the steps we are taking are bearing fruit, and today is a historic day for all of us after we led the groundbreaking ceremony for the dream UNLAD Community College."

He underscored the significance of the UNLAD Community College in providing free education to Doloresin youth, ensuring a brighter future for them within their hometown. The budget for the project was approved through an ordinance by the Sangguniang Bayan, led by Vice Mayor Alilio. Mayor Calayag extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Sangguniang Bayan for their unwavering support and the passage of the ordinance that paved the way for this vital project.

"This is a historic day for Dolores," stated Vice Mayor Renato "Doc Jon" Alilio Jr. "The UNLAD Community College will be a catalyst for growth, empowering our youth to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. We believe that by investing in our young people's education, we are investing in the future of our town. This college will open doors to countless opportunities, allowing our students to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to our community."

PSDS Gilbert Alva, representing DepEd Dolores District, lauded the initiative, highlighting the importance of education in nation-building. "Investing in education is investing in the future. The UNLAD Community College will equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century."
