LUCENA CITY, Quezon—Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan inspected the Camp Nakar Station Hospital on Monday, October 7, during the ongoing construction of the new medical facility. This hospital is set to provide better healthcare services to military personnel and their families in the region.

The three-story hospital, funded by a P75,656,000 allocation from the General Appropriations Act 2024, will include a pharmacy and an outpatient department to serve both military personnel and the local community.

"This hospital is badly needed," Gov. Tan stated during her visit. "It will provide essential medical care for uncomplicated cases and cater to the families of our uniformed personnel, ensuring they have access to quality healthcare."

Gov. Tan emphasized the hospital's future role within the provincial healthcare system, saying that once established, it will be integrated into our hospital network, working in collaboration with other medical facilities to provide comprehensive healthcare services to our residents.

"As a government facility, it will be crucial in expanding our referral system, making access to healthcare easier for all our constituents. While Quezon Medical Center is a free hospital, this AFP hospital addresses a specific need in our community," she added.

Accompanying the Governor were SOLCOM Chief LTGEN Facundo Palafox IV, AFP HSCtr-SL Acting Chief COL Nerio Zabala, and several other personnel from SOLCOM.

Chief Lt. Gen. Palafox commended Gov. Tan's leadership and vital support for the project, highlighting its positive impact on the community. He expressed gratitude for the strong partnership between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the provincial government in enhancing healthcare services for the people of Quezon.

He emphasized the crucial role of collaborative efforts in effectively addressing the community's healthcare needs. To serve and protect the people, he stressed the necessity of a strong partnership between the military and local government in providing accessible, quality healthcare services. This collaborative approach ensures efficient and effective delivery of healthcare to the community.

Meanwhile, Col. Zabala reinforced this sentiment, stating, "We cannot stand alone." He highlighted the significance of the partnership between the provincial government and the AFP in ensuring the community has access to vital healthcare services.

"This is the first AFP hospital in the province," Col. Zabala added, "and it will be equipped and ready to serve upon completion. It will greatly benefit the community by increasing access to specialized medical care and improving overall health outcomes."

In a gesture of appreciation for the Provincial Government's ongoing cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Gov. Tan was awarded a military achievement medal during the visit.

The Camp Nakar Station Hospital is expected to be fully operational in the coming months, providing much-needed medical services to the community.
