GUMACA, Quezon – Aiming to uplift and empower its educators, the Municipality of Gumaca honored its dedicated educators during a special Teacher's Day celebration held September 27-28 at the Southern Quezon Convention Center.
The event, part of the national Teacher's Day festivities, recognized the vital role teachers play in shaping the future. Teachers were treated to a program filled with performances, awards, and heartfelt messages of appreciation.
The celebration began with an inspiring seminar-workshop, "Teaching from the Heart: Rehumanizing our Classrooms with Pedagogical and Nurturing Care." Guest speaker Joseph Noel Titar motivated teachers with a powerful message about the importance of compassion and empathy in education.
During his speech, Titar highlighted the need for educators to cultivate strong relationships with their students, emphasizing the impact of positive teacher-student connections on academic success and personal growth.
He also shared practical strategies for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student well-being and engagement, such as implementing restorative practices and mindfulness techniques.
On the other hand, Mayor Letargo emphasized the role of community involvement in supporting students' educational journeys, stressing the importance of collaboration between schools, families, and local organizations.
He pledges to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that every student has access to the resources and support needed to thrive academically and personally. Additionally, he highlighted the need for ongoing communication and partnership to address any challenges that may arise in students' educational experiences.
The highlight of the celebration was the awarding ceremony on September 28, recognizing the "Outstanding Teachers of Gumaca" for 2024. These exceptional educators received plaques, cash gifts, and tokens of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
Vice Mayor Rico Bañal, Councilor Juancho Mercurio, and PPSK Stephanie Marquez joined the festivities to honor the awardees. Mayor Webster Letargo expressed his sincere gratitude for the commitment and dedication of Gumaca's teachers.
The successful event was a collaborative effort between the local government, various organizations, and the education sector, with support from Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora Helen" Tan and Quezon's 4th District Representative Cong. Atty. Mike Tan.
