LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Twenty-five micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from various sectors in Quezon Province recently completed a two-day "Start and Improve Your Business" (SIYB) seminar-workshop, gaining valuable skills to thrive in the digital age.

The workshop, held at the DTI Quezon Provincial Office, was a joint effort by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)–CALABARZON, and DICT-Quezon.

"We are committed to empowering our MSMEs with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed," said Keanu Austin A. Rairata, Negosyo Center - Trade Industry Development Analyst (NC-TIDA) at DTI Quezon. "This workshop is a testament to our dedication to helping them grow and adapt in an increasingly digital world."

Rairata explained that the training utilized the SIYB module from the International Labour Organization (ILO) online platform. This module equips MSMEs with essential knowledge in marketing and record-keeping, crucial for business growth and sustainability.

"The SIYB program provides a comprehensive learning experience," added Rairata. "Participants not only gain valuable insights into marketing and record-keeping but also explore the exciting potential of AI in their business operations."

Facilitated by Ritchell Arquilita-Villaverde, Regional Center Manager of DICT CALABARZON, the workshop covered key areas essential for business success. Day 1 focused on marketing strategies, enabling participants to effectively reach their target audiences and promote their products and services. Day 2 delved into record-keeping and the innovative use of artificial intelligence (AI) in business operations.

"The SIYB program not only provides fundamental business skills but also introduces participants to cutting-edge technologies like AI," stated Villaverde. "This empowers them to optimize their processes, improve efficiency, and gain a competitive edge in the market."

Villaverde stressed that "understanding and utilizing AI is no longer an option but a necessity for businesses to stay relevant and competitive. This workshop provides a foundational understanding of how AI can be a powerful tool for growth."

The DTI and DICT remain dedicated to supporting MSMEs in Quezon Province and beyond. By providing accessible training programs and resources, they aim to foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem and contribute to the growth of the local economy.
