SARIAYA, Quezon - In a dual celebration of progress, Barangay Sampaloc 2 and Barangay Gibanga are experiencing significant improvements to their infrastructure, including the completion of a new farm-to-market road and increased access to clean water sources.

This initiative, recently spearheaded by Quezon Governor Angelina "Doktora" Tan, is expected to greatly benefit the residents by enhancing transportation options and ensuring a more reliable water supply for agricultural and household use.

Over 6,862 residents of Sampaloc 2 and its surrounding areas now have access to clean and safe water with the inauguration of a new 20,000-gallon capacity water supply system. This system, the 51st under Governor Tan's "Sariling Sikap" program, addresses the pressing global issue of freshwater scarcity.

"This is a testament to our commitment to bringing 'Serbisyong Tunay at Natural' directly to the people of Quezon," Governor Tan stated during the formal blessing of the water system. The Governor also oversaw the distribution of agricultural aid to local farmers, with the Provincial Agriculture Office providing essential resources like vegetable seeds, knapsack sprayers, and fertilizers to boost the town's agricultural productivity.

She also said that every assist provided to the community is a step towards achieving sustainable development and ensuring food security for all residents of Quezon. Governor Tan emphasized the importance of collaboration and unity in addressing challenges related to water scarcity and agricultural productivity in the province.

Global freshwater withdrawals are exceeding 4 trillion cubic meters per year and continue to rise, making this project a vital step in ensuring water security for the community. The water supply system also includes a purification process to ensure that the water is safe for consumption, contributing to improved health outcomes for the residents.

Aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all . By empowering individuals to take control of their water supply, the "Sariling Sikap" program promotes self-sufficiency and resilience in the face of water scarcity challenges.

Meanwhile, Gibanga farmers are experiencing the benefits of a newly completed farm-to-market road. This 610-meter concreted road, representing an investment of over 5 million pesos, replaces a previously impassable route that hampered the transport of agricultural goods. The upgraded road will facilitate faster and more convenient delivery of produce to the Sariaya market, potentially increasing farmers' income and stimulating the local economy.

Governor Tan reiterated their commitment to supporting the long-term needs of all towns and cities within Quezon Province, emphasizing their dedication to providing essential services and infrastructure improvements that enhance the quality of life for residents.

She also said the hospital in this town will be upgraded to provide better healthcare services to the community, ensuring that residents have access to quality medical care without needing to travel long distances. Governor Tan expressed confidence that these investments will contribute to the overall development and prosperity of the province, benefiting both current and future generations.
